Gearing Your New Year With A Positive Mindset

You want to be your best self. You want to make the best out of your life. You want to have the best version of you be it holistically, for the people around you, etc. And quite possibly, you will take a little time today to meditate on what you should embrace or release in the year 2022 to boost your happiness and make a positive impact on the world.

You may probably jot down the things you would like to achieve, options like buying a house being a major goal in your bucket list, maybe jot down some habits to adopt and let go, or perhaps set work-related goals that will lead to your career development. Whatever choices that will come out of your new year’s resolutions will largely depend on your mental state from day to day factoring in positivity or negativity in how you visualize things. As they say, the ocean can’t sink a ship unless it gets inside the ship.

We can have everything we’ve ever wanted and still be miserable, and possess very little but be happy and content with what we have. This is attributed to how we think, belief and best take care of ourselves. This means we have tremendous power to change our life for the better, regardless of the external goals we achieve, simply by making choices for our well-being.

With this in mind, the following are  tips on how to gear up this year with a positive mindset:

  1. Embrace Change

Life is not about what happens to us but how we react to it. At times, our biggest setbacks can lead to better things in life accompanied by new tidings. This only happens when change is embraced. We say change is inevitable and if we don’t embrace change, then change will change us. Look into positive vibes amidst new changes and learn from every tough moment that comes along.

  1. Practice Mindfulness

Practical thinking is crucial in every being’s life. Thinking about our present and future plans is part of our day-to-day activities. However, we have to maximize the time we spend thinking of tasks that are yet to be accomplished, things that are not working out, and some past sequence of events that never turned out as we planned. Taking time to be attentive to each new moment as it arises is the key to experiencing more peace, aliveness, and connection regardless of its going on in your life or the expectations you’ve set this year.

  1. Concentrate not only on your to-do list but also on the to-be list

The quality of your life is determined by who you are, not only by what you accomplish. We are human beings and not human doings. With that, it’s important to base the value of our day on that small bit of wisdom and live accordingly. It is also important to overlook what the future holds and work on what you want to be accomplished in the days to come. Living a visionary life totally gives meaning to your daily endeavors and pushes you towards living a purpose-driven life.

  1. Take a break

Give yourself room to take breaks from your workspace and whatever noise surrounds you. It is okay to take short or long breaks in life to unwind as you meditate on what you want with your life. Breaks will help you think afresh and reminisce on some of the things you’ve accomplished. For mental health, it is always advisable to change your environment once in a while for a breather of mind. You realize that as a human being, breaks are so important since we are not machines that would work all day long. There is a level to which our minds and bodies can function giving room for some space to rest. It is therefore important to know how best your break schedule looks like this year such that you have ample time for yourself, your family, friends, etc.

  1. Avoid procrastination and start creating the life of your dreams.

If you want to succeed in your life, avoid the law of procrastination. You probably want to kick-start on a certain project but you keep pushing it to a later date simply because you think you are missing out on something. Or perhaps grow that career or business, but you keep finding excuses that lack meaning. This year, start creating a positive mindset towards creating a  life out of your dreams. If you do not actualize on the dreams you have, you better go back to sleep and dream again. Start up on whatever is ahead of your to-do list this year not looking at the setbacks that will come along but with the goal of achieving something by the end of the day. Remember, failure to give it a trial is room for failure in your life.

When it’s all said and done, remember optimists see the best in all circumstances. Instead of dwelling on what they cannot change, they choose to make the most out of all situations and remove themselves from stress. Gear yourself up this year with a positive mindset and the outcome will always give you a smiling face amidst all odds.
